Fundraising & Social Events

We host and run a number of fundraising and social events throughout the year. Below you can find information about some of the regular events we run.

Summer Fair

A quintessentially village event held on The Green outside church, annually at the end of June.
This is a much-anticipated afternoon where you will find traditional stalls such as white elephants, children’s games, cakes and plants. We also have a coconut shy, bouncy castle, football shoot out and hook a duck. There is plenty to keep everyone entertained. During the afternoon there are also opportunities to listen to the church youth band play and watch a local Morris Dancing group.
Food options include a BBQ, ice cream and of course afternoon tea and homemade cake. There is also a beer tent selling local beer, Pimms and soft drinks.
It is always an enjoyable afternoon and is suitable for the whole family.

Christmas Market

Held every November this is an opportunity to stock up on home made christmas gifts. It takes place in the church and church centre and you will find home made preserves, sweets, cakes, craft items, cards and wrapping paper as well as a myriad of other items. Seasonal refreshments are served as well as bacon butties. In recent years the market is held on the same day as the newly established Otford village Christmas event.

Soup Lunch

Soup lunch occurs every alternate month on a Monday lunchtime. It is an opportunity to enjoy a bowl of home-made soup and bread, followed by a light dessert with tea and coffee. There is a coffee-time speaker of local interest, ranging from authors, local businesses, charities and to those holding public office. There is usually an opportunity for a question-and-answer session at the end of the talk.
The dates are advertised in the Pews News and there is a sign-up sheet in the church lobby for 2 weeks prior to the event. Alternatively, please contact the Church Office to book a place.
The suggested donation is £6.50 per person.

Pop-ups

We established our Pop-up stalls during Covid times when we couldn’t meet indoors. Since then we hold 4-5 Pop-Up stalls during the spring/summer months. These take place in the centre of the village outside the Church Hall, near the recreation ground. We sell differnt items at each Pop-up, with items ranging from cakes and bakes, to home made preserves and chutneys, or plants and crafts.
We are there for 2 hours and enjoy the opportunity to chat and meet people in the village both local and visiting.
Watch out for local adverts telling you when the next event is and come early to avoid disappointment on the cake front!

Musical Events

We have lots of talented musicians within our church family who enhance our worship Sunday by Sunday. We also hold occasional concerts and performances utilising the skills of our own choir and musicians, and invited external groups. We advertise these on our social media platforms and with posters around the village so keep an eye out for the next one.

Other Social Events

Throughout the year the church runs a wide range of social events including but not limited to the
following:
– Quiz nights
– Pop up bistros
